NYC Municipal Archives Exhibition

Incorrigibles: Bearing Witness to the Incarcerated Girls and Women of New York opened at the New York City Municipal Archives in February 2020. The exhibition has been extended due to Covid-19 and will remain at the Archives until a date to be determined in 2021.

Incorrigibles’ Project Director, Alison Cornyn and Public Historian, Kathleen Hulser were invited to delve into the NYC archives to create additional installation components for the Incorrigibles traveling exhibition. We so appreciate the support of the NYC Department of Records and Information Services for opening their archives to us.

Public programming included a screening of Monique Morris’ film (based on her book of the same name) Pushout. Ella Wylde took part that evening with her musical talents. Other public programs had to be put on hold due to Covid-19.

The “Incorrigibles” exhibit will be open indefinitely. It is located in an alcove off the lobby of the Surrogate’s Court building, 31 Chambers Street. It can be viewed during the building opening hours—Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Thursdays to 6 p.m.).
